Abstract

The goal of this book is to assist both the lawyer and the doctor in understanding the medico-legal implications of the practice of obstetrics and gynecology. The information found in this book should serve to guide the lawyer’s judgment and conduct in evaluating and handling a client’s malpractice claim. This book should also serve to provide the physician with readily accessible, concise and critically important information on the standard of care applicable to the various areas of his or her practice which are most often subject to legal inquiry. The broad goal of this book is to suggest to the competent practitioner—the one in the delivery room and the one in the courtroom—the ways in which each can achieve a just result for the patient.
