Abstract

The biotechnology revolution led to a better quality of life for the human race. More emerging technologies are available to the average person than ever before, bringing both advantages and risks. This article discusses how the Biological Weapons Convention of 1972 has responded to these domestic and international risks and has tried to prevent harm from the use of these emerging biotechnologies. The article concludes by surveying other mechanisms that might provide better control of biological weapons as opposed to just redefining the technologies.
