Abstract
The natural frequencies of two elementary rigid frames, the rectangular bent and the two member frame, were determined for various ratios of length, moment of inertia, and mass per unit length of the vertical and horizontal members. The natural frequencies were found by solving the frequency equation which was obtained from the partial differential equation of motion of a distributed mass and elasticity beam. Both motion in the plane of the frame and motion perpendicular to the plane were considered. To verify the analysis, the natural frequencies were determined by an experimental method, and the two results compared.
