Using the World Wide Web for Electronic Serials Collection Development
Abstract
A search was conducted on the World Wide Web to identify electronic journals that Texas Tech University Library might offer its users as a menu item on the Library Information System, or on the library’s Web page. Various Web resources were utilized, including Lynx, Mosaic, and Netscape. Several different search engines were enlisted in an effort to identify as many different electronic journals as possible in the areas of psychology and sociology. The search process as well as the result of the searches are described, and some possible selection criteria that might be used in collecting electronic journals are discussed.
