Haplopappus ravenii Jackson occurs as four disjunct populations in southeastern California, southwestern Utah, and as two populations in the northern third of central Arizona. Based on numerical and biosystematic studies, two races of H. ravenii have been previously recognized (Jackson and Crovello, 1971). The present study has included all four populations. It has demonstrated through the use of morphological and life history analysis, biochemical analysis using starch gel electrophoresis, and hybrid analysis that both morphological and genetic divergence is taking place in each of the populations of H. ravenii.
