Abstract

In this study, sound power radiation by clamped-free and simply supported-free plates is represented using Rayleigh surface integral (Far-field) approach. The results and effects of circular holes within the circular plates on the acoustic power radiation are studied. The equation of motion and the displacement function of the plate are derived. Rayleigh surface integral (far-field) approach is used to get the equations for the acoustic radiation from the plate. Axially symmetric, free vibration of clamped-free and simply supported-free annular plates is analyzed. Different geometric conditions are applied, such as the inner to outer radius and the thickness of the plate. Nine radius ratios and three thickness are studied. Aluminum and steel plates are examined.

The effects of these different geometric conditions and the material properties on the acoustic power radiation are observed. Also, the results are compared with regard to the clamped-clamped annular plates. Copper and steel plates with the same thickness act almost the same on the acoustic power radiation, since the natural frequencies are very close t each other. For a specific material and a thickness, the power radiation decreases with the increasing circular hole radius, as decreasing the effective area. The decrease in the interaction of the fluid medium and the plate surface leads to the decrease in the energy transferred to the medium. These all discussions and comparisons will be shown in this paper. Formulas are derived for determining the sound power equations. Figures are plotted in order to find the accuracy.
