Abstract
Joseph Phillip (J. P.) Morris, founder of the Rafter-3 Ranch, lived a long and eventfull life, as a West Texas rancher and businessman. The study of Morris is important because of his involvement in the development of Texas, the livestock industry, and entrepreneurship in general. Bom during the early statehood period, he lived until the eve of World War II and his life offers lessons in ranch management, business diversification, and family owned and operated enterprises.
