Ship Name:Empire; Sailed: 1870-1901; Type: Wood 3-masted later bark; Built by: Kennebunkport, Maine; Dimensions: 183.5' x 35.6' x 23.4'; Tonnage: 1131 tons.
Description
Empire was a full-rigger and the photograph shows the top and topgallant masts on the mizzen indicating that they took the yards off the ship. J. J. Moore of San Francisco owned this ship at one time and Empire succumbed to a fire in San Francisco Bay in 1901.
