Description

I do not know much of anything about Gainsborough, but Diamond Head was a regular fixture on the west coast for many, many years. After many seasons as a general trader, S. C. Allen of Honolulu purchased Gainsborough and renamed the old iron ship Diamond Head. Diamond Head engaged in the Hawaii trade for years and in 1910 entered the oil carrying trade. Cut down as a barge, Diamond Head banged up and down the coast for years until finally scrapped in 1950.
