CONTEXT The site, located on Lubbock's east side, occupies an entire block bound by 19th Street, Santa Fe Railroad, 20th Street and Birch Avenue, The surrounding environment is inundated with manufacturing buildings, railroads, and low income tenements, Crime rates are high and the education level ofthe inhabitant is lower than the average middle class neighborhood. The neighborhood also has some positive attributes that help to stabilize the community. It has its own modest parks and quiet culture that seems isolated it from the rest of Lubbock. Despite adverse circumstances the neighborhood is close knit unlike many of our more affluent and educated communities, It is a part of Lubbock that is interested in self-improvement.
