Language of metaphor in architecture: A research library design

Abstract

Using metaphor in architecture creates a unique design poetry where the form is an abstraction of the architects imagination. Metaphor can also be used to communicate the function of the building, thereby encouraging interaction between the users, staff, and facility. This communication between the users and the building is essential for a successful use of metaphor.
