Abstract

The physical context of the facility along a major business road in Lubbock, Texas. Currently the site houses a vacant 100,000 square foot building set behind a large empty parking lot. This made the site desirable because of the ability to take an existing structure and put it to use. The large area inside is ideal for the a controlled skating environment, because the tall ceilings provide enough clearance. The massive parking lot gives an opportunity to provide skating outside as well. , A music shop is adjacent on the west side of the building while the site also contains a bank to northwest and a small sporting goods store to the northeast. To the south of the building is a residential neighborhood, separated by a nine foot wall and foliage.
