Abstract
The largest biological system on Earth, the biosphere, contains all milieus on the Earth's mantle. The biosphere can be described as a supreme, balanced life support system. It controls flow from the high energy- energy input of the sun to the thermal sink of space. Within this life support system exists a cyclic flow of matter. In regards to matter, the biosphere can be considered a closed material system with a finite mass (Yeang 10).
