The Renaissance era provided us with many works that are both wonderful teaching pieces and beautiful works of art. What can we do to make this repertoire more available to young choral musicians? In this session we will demonstrate how early music can be more accessible for children’s, middle, and high school choirs with the use of appropriate arrangements and instrumentation. We will discuss what to look for when programming, and how to tailor a piece specifically for your choir at home. Those in attendance will see how to incorporate movement and other period rehearsal strategies to accelerate learning and increase retention for teen and pre-teen singers.
