Abstract

Epidemic models allow scientists to model diseases and outbreaks in various scenarios. However, current epidemic models rely on an assumption that time is either always continuous or discrete; in other words, that the disease or outbreak is continuously occuring or that it is sparatically occuring. The study of time scales allows researchers to consider continuous time and discrete time simultaneously. In this thesis, we examine previous attempts at creating epidemic models on time scales, then present a new approach to the models that answer the question `Can we create an epidemic model that holds for all time scales?'
