Survey of United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit’s decisions from July 1, 1979, through June 30, 1980 on admiralty law. While the Fifth Circuit attempted to eliminate inconsistencies and to provide guidance by establishing standards for search and seizure on the waters. This survey will focus on significant decisions concerning maritime damages, causes of action and required status, the protest clause, and the construction of a maritime lien statute.
