Abstract
Survey of United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit’s consumer law decisions from July 1, 1982, through June 30, 1983. During the survey period, the Fifth Circuit addressed a number of cases dealing with consumer protection legislation. These decisions showed a trend to view consumer protection legislation with the protection of the consumer foremost in the mind of the circuit. This article will discuss cases involving the Electronic Fund Transfer Act, the Truth in Lending Act, and the Equal Credit Opportunity Act, which exemplify this trend.
