Abstract

This study investigated the performance level of five groups of mentally retarded individuals enrolled in special education classes in a public school system. The measurement tool was a work sample task designed to assist in the evaluation of bilateral psychomotor skills and the retention of verbal and demonstrated instructions. This type of testing procedure, and the type of abilities measured, are deemed to be of ~articular value in evaluating the employment potential of retarded individuals, a group difficult to evaluate with usualy psychometric testing.
