Dual role professional's perceptions of spirituality competencies concerning master's levels counselor education student preparation

This dissertation focuses on practical applications of teaching spirituality in counselor education. In order to approach the subject of spirituality pedagogy, interviews were conducted with seven professionals in the fields of counseling and ministry. The goal of this study was to discover pragmatic ideas on the subject of teaching spirituality in counselor education by collaborating with people who have lived in both the counseling and spirituality worlds. The counseling and the ministry professions serve to benefit more clients by the sharing of resources. The result of this study shows that interdisciplinary collaboration may help the counseling field discover new and innovative ideas to train counselors in understanding the spiritual needs of the clients they serve.
