Abstract

A material culture assemblage, associated with a Comanche woman, is analyzed to determine status. The context of the collection is determined through a layered approach that considers the regional landscape. A comparative analysis and review of ethnohistoric records serve to strengthen the context and extend interpretations of status within Comanche society beyond the individual to Comanche women in general.
