Abstract
The project is an elementary school in a new community under development near Santa Fe, New Mexico. The school will accommodate 560 sq. ft. The building will be of such a scale so as to fit into its residential surroundings, yet it will set itself apart from the neighborhood in a way that will make it a focal point. The urban design aspect of the project will create a relationship that enhances both the school and its environment, since it is impossible to separate the architecture from the urban design. By considering every piece of architecture as an act of urban design, one must take into account the repercussions each action will have on the surroundings;therefore, no decision is inconsequential.
