Abstract
This study investigated early literacy services available for preschoolers who qualify for Early Childhood intervention (ECI). A range of services are offered, but this study focused on the nature of literacy services offered to families. The researcher examined the source of the services, namely, university settings, public health, and local school districts to compare the type of services and the extent to which they are provided. Additionally, parents of infants and toddlers with disabilities were interviewed to understand parents’ perceptions of and satisfaction with the services provided to aid their children’s literacy development. Findings suggest that literacy services are also available to families along with other services, e.g., health services, and families find the assistance to be of help to them in promoting their children’s development beyond what the parents alone could provide.
