Abstract
Thesis Statement: Through space in movement, architecture should maneuver and adapt to various functions and pressures, facilitating the ideas of kinetics and be influenced by the expression of dynamic form and motion. Facility Statement: Community architecture contributes to developing a unified culture by bringing together neighborhoods and dissolving social identity problems. A public tennis center with an emphasis on recreation, leisure, and the social life of the community, will aid in the quest to develop a unified community. Context Statement: The community for which the tennis center is to be built is the recently revitalized downtown Houston and the surrounding ward neighborhoods. The site is located just north of the new Union Station Ballpark, and due south of the Buffalo Bayou. Characterized by a rapid change and a rejuvenated state of growth, the downtown area and surrounding ward neighborhoods currently have no up to date recreational facilities.
