Abstract
Description
...With increased use of structural silicone sealants in
the construction industry, a standard design methodology
would be welcomed by all concerned. Before a definite
design standard can be offered, the engineering properties
of structural silicone sealants need to be known. Although
manufacturers of structural silicone sealants provide material
specifications for their products, not all of the
required engineering properties can be obtained from these
product data sheets. The need for properties such as modulus
of elasticity (Young's Modulus) arises; this property is
relatively unknown to most users of structural silicone
sealants. Definition of this engineering property as a
function of temperature, elongation rate, and percent
elongation is an ideal research topic, and is the subject of this thesis....
