Abstract
The article explores how the power dynamics and inherent coercion in traffic stops often undermine the voluntary nature of consent given by motorists. This article critiques the existing legal framework, arguing that it fails to adequately protect individuals' Fourth Amendment rights in these high-pressure situations. He proposes reforms to ensure that consent is truly voluntary and to mitigate the risks associated with traffic stops, which disproportionately affect marginalized communities. The article advocates for clearer legal standards and enhanced training for law enforcement to prevent abuses and protect civil liberties.
