The purpose of this Symposium is to examine the Texas law of medical malpractice as it has been affected by the new statute, the Medical Liability and Insurance Improvement Act of Texas. In conjunction with the Symposium, the Texas Tech School of Law planned a seminar on medical malpractice which was conducted in March of 1979. It is hoped that both the Symposium and seminar will establish a dialogue between the medical and legal professions that will remedy any misunderstandings between the professions that may exist as undocumented reasons for the Texas medical malpractice insurance crisis.
