Abstract
Architecture and the education of our children are both 'building blocks'for the future of our society. Therefore, architecture can play an integral role in the development of the physiological, psychological, physical and mental aspects of our children, by inspiring hope and encouraging children and administrators to be their best A new attitude in education is inspiring architects to inspire children. Factors such as the so-called "Baby Boomlet,' and the incorporation of new technology are contributing to an overhaul in the thinking of educators and architects. These issues, as well as those of increasing population and changing ethnic makeup, have forced society to re-define and re-design the aspects of schools. ^ Along with the need for re-design, also comes the need to serve the community. The increasing plight of children in society today can be helped by incorporating community activities in a safe, attractive area (namely, their school). Architecture can then become an instrumental aspect of improving children's lives. "As responsible members of communities,'' notes Charles Swanson, "architects must take a bigger role in bettering the environment for disadvantaged kjds."^
