Description

The first photograph of British-built, but German-owned Arethusa appears to be in the channel toward Bristol. Charles Connell built Arethusa for B. Wencke Sohne, the German shipping firm. Arethusa traded to Australia and other ports being sold Norwegian in 1913 and renamed Hippalos. The second photograph is of Hippalos with sails aback. Hippalos sold again to Chile in 1916, the ship was wrecked shortly after World War I.
