Admiralty

Surveys recent Fifth Circuit cases involving new or significant issues related to admiralty and maritime law. Three of the survey cases are discussed under this survey's first subdivision, Expansion in the Moragne/Gaudet Era. The balance of this survey article is contained under the second and final subdivision, Admiralty Jurisdiction. This subdivision reviews five areas of Admiralty law in which the Fifth Circuit has expanded the limits of Admiralty jurisdiction beyond what previous law, both statutory and case law, had allowed.
