Abstract
Even though there has been an increase in the number of student veterans attending college during the past decade, there is a lack of scholarly research regarding the transition experience of a distinct group: combat veterans in the community college setting (Vacchi & Berger, 2014). Very few existent studies address Post-9/11 student veteran transition issues. Further, there are very few studies examining student veteran attendance at community colleges. This study examines transitional experiences of combat veterans as they attend community colleges and seeks to inform counselors, community college staff, faculty, and administrators of the stressors, roadblocks, and transitional issues combat veterans encounter in community colleges.
