Abstract
The strip in Las Vegas uses visual stimuli to appeal to its patrons. It is a race to see who has the brightest lights, the most color, the most interesting building... To satisfy these needs, the Strip architecture has turned toward "borrowing" other communities' cultural icons. I am going to explore the idea that Strip architecture can be successful by creating its own icons: buildings that achieve higher status using purely optical communication, the visual language of size, shape, color and position of objects, rather than restoring to the creation of copies, such as the new Paris Hotel.
