An architectural vocabulary is established predominantly through the manipulation of structure, fortn, and light to communicate denotative meanings for the participants to synthesize. This dissemination of the built environment states such things as organization and overall hierarchy of a building to the user. Denotative meanings can also be communicated through the application of signs and iconographic symbols which state directly what they represent. Connotative meanings allow architecture to communicate at an emotional level. These symbols must be interpreted by the user and can have numerous possibilities. It is at this level, that symbols create a meaningful environment rich with possibilities for the future. Context and Facility Type: This Multimodal Transportation Facility will be located in the City of Dallas, Texas on the western edge of the central business district. The facility will allow for arrivals, departures, transfers, and termination of various modes of travel. The scope of this facility will include rail, bus, taxi, pedestrian, and automobile traffic along with serving the needs of a projected 14,000 daily users.
