Abstract
This thesis examines data generated through the collection and analysis of archaeological evidence recovered from the Shield Ranch Camp Wood (SRCW) Military Road site (41RE179). Four research objectives are addressed in this study: the investigation of the reported military road and documentation of archaeological data related to an associated armed conflict; the identification of the types and number of firearms employed during the engagement in question through the application of firearms identification analysis; the integration of the firearms and spatial data to assess the distribution of conflict-related artifacts across the site; and a review of the historical record of the upper Nueces River Valley. The research objectives addressed in this study serve to contextualize the evidence and allow for the development of interpretations for the data recovered from the SRCW Military Road site (41RE179).
