Abstract

Recently, smartphones have been used for different healthcare and disease detection applications. In this dissertation, I have used smartphone as a novel imaging technology to acquire images from the eye to eliminate the challenges with bulky, expensive, and not portable devices. Moreover, I have contributed to the design and development of different novel 3D printed gadgets that are attached to the smartphone to capture the desired features. These features are processed by applying image processing techniques, and machine learning algorithms are used to recognize and detect important features in an image to diagnose the eye diseases with high accuracy.
