Abstract
High school principals face many challenges in public schools. High schools continue to grow, change demographically and are being asked to meet the college readiness needs of all of their students. The increasing level of accountability for academic success has built community pressure to meet the varied needs of all children. These ae a few of the responsibilities and leadership challenges that are before secondary school principals. School reform is continually needed in high schools in order to meet the increasing demands placed on students, teachers, and secondary principals leading the charge. Current leaders of high schools must be prepared to make important and difficult changes in the classoom, provide significant feedback for teachers, and revamp and revise the role of principal on campus in order to reform a school. The purpose of this qualitative study is to examine transformational leadership strategies used by high school principals who have led their campuses though the school reform process. Purposefully selected participants will continue to the collection of data around high school principals and add to the body of knowledge in transformational leadership in high schools.
