Interindustry analysis of the Texas high plains, part i, Texas interindustry project

The overall objective of this study was to determine the interindustry relationships of a 56 county area in northwest Texas which is called the High Plains. An Input-Output Model was determined for the area with 94 processing sectors, six final payments sectors, and seven final demand sectors. The processing sectors were classified into 11 industrial groups. The model was closed with respect to the Households Sector. The model was based on 1967. Transactions for the model were based on interviews from sample firms and mail surveys as well as information from State agencies and associations. Producers prices FOB the shipper were used to determine the transactions. It was estimated that 335,282 people were employed by the processing sectors in 1967- The region was a net exporter of goods and services to other regions, states and nations ($2,529.8 million of exports in excess of imports). The mining industry was the largest industry in the region ($2,161.2 million). Total interindustry benefits from irrigation were estimated to be $1,561.1 million.
