Abstract

Analyses the California Supreme Court’s case, Coulter v. Superior Court of San Mateo County. In Coulter, the court held that “a social host who furnishes alcoholic beverages to an obviously intoxicated person, under circumstances that create a reasonably foreseeable risk of harm to others, may be held liable to third persons injured by the intoxicated person.” The author hopes that similar, common sense approaches will be adopted by other courts.
