Abstract
In the final scene of Vvilliam Gibson's The Miracle Worker, Helen Keller is a nine-year-old child just beginning to comprehend language. At the opening of Monday After the Miracle, Helen is a 26-year-old honors student at Radcliffe. Helen's communication skills have developed during her teenage years, but Gibson has written the character of Helen in Monday After the Miracle in a manner which leaves numerous other choices to be made by the actress. A study of the life of Helen Keller provides the actress with limited insight into Helen's world through her extant letters, but many decisions on Helen's personality and actions remain open to actress choice.
