Abstract
Reviews alkaline hydrolysis, the so-called “liquid cremation,” in light of the predominate methods of corpse disposal: burial and cremation. Looks at the seven states that have already approved the use of alkaline hydrolysis, the opposition to the process raised in Ohio and New Hampshire, and states that have begun reviewing statutory language in light of alkaline hydrolysis. Concludes that alkaline hydrolysis belongs alongside burial and cremation as an acceptable method for corpse disposal.
