Abstract
The theoretical purpose of this project is to demonstrate how the use of sustainable architectural technologies, both passive and active systems, can improve child learning and benefit the surrounding community. The facility program will consist of a daycare facility that is also used by the community on a daily basis after regular business hours. The program will include a water park and community playground. The facility will incorporate both passive and active building technologies in both the private and public spaces of the complex. The facility will be located in Taylor, Texas at 301 Cr 400 and Hwy 95. This site has the necessary amount of acreage, and is only 1.2 miles from Hwy 79 which loops around Taylor. This makes the site ideal for easy access from the community of Taylor and the surrounding neighborhoods. This site also is within easy access of major thoroughfares; that are used by the county to access Austin's metropolitan areas.
