Characterization of the EF-1 gene promoter of zebrafish for its use in the production of transgenic fish

The long-term objective of this study is to identify a promoter system that yields high levels of foreign gene expression m zebrafish. The specific aims were to isolate and sequence the zebrafish EF-la gene promoter and enhancer regions, and to determine its ef&cacy in supporting foreign gene (chloran^henicol acetyltransferase) expression in this species.
