Abstract
The canon of Modernism rarely includes any female writers. Women who do find their way into the canon are there primarily because of their involvement in scholarly communities created by men. This lack of representation gives the impression that women were not writing during one of the most creative periods in human history. This project explores popular and forgotten female modernists in order to discern what methods women had to use in order to gain access to intellectual communities and what lengths some went to in order to find their own voices.
