Abstract
Discusses the traditional Texas rule controlling the issue of whether the characterization of a homestead is affected by the expansion of nearby cities and towns. This article also discusses the 1989 and 1999 amendments to the Property Code that may have changed the Texas rule. Oldham concludes by evaluating whether this would be a sensible change in Texas law.
