Abstract

This book examines the ever evolving relationship between law and biotechnology. The book addresses the government’s ability to impact biotechnology through its various departments and agencies as well as the emerging biotechnological issues in the private sector. The author discusses the effects of biotechnology on privacy rights, healthcare, and disclosure of medical information. The book contains a chapter on international law and biotechnology. Next, ethical and religious issues related to biotechnology are discussed. The book follows with a discussion of biotechnology’s influence on criminal law, particularly with respect to DNA testing and evidence. The author also discusses the ways biotechnology affects property law and tort law. The book concludes with a discussion of the future of law and biotechnology.
