Abstract

Analyzes the powers and limitations of home rule cities, the subdivision plat approval process and how it relates to regulating land use, and mandatory parkland dedication ordinances. The article then analyzes a Texas Supreme Court decision which held that ordinances requiring dedication of park areas as a condition to plat approval are not per se invalid.
