Abstract

There exists a relationship between an urban rail transportation center and "information age" iconographical images. The interpretation and representation of these iconographical images, will affect the ultimate physical manifestation of the architecture. The urban rail transportation center must address the new needs of urban and regional commuters as well as traditional long distance travelers. Dallas, Texas is in need of a new rail facility. Three rail authorities of increasing degrees of connectivity all connect into the downtown area. Although, Amtrak, DART, and the Trinity Express share a common platform they do not share a common place of connectivity. The most suitable area for future rail facility development is located west of downtown between Houston Street and the existing tracks. This site is three blocks north of Union Station and is the only undeveloped site where all three transportation entities share a common right of way.
