An analysis of the problems encountered by selected Texas Tech University graduates on teaching elementary-grade social studies

The primary purpose of this study was to identify problems that were encountered by selected Texas Tech University graduates in teaching elementary-grade social studies. Secondary purposes of the study included:

1. The identification of resources that the teacher found most beneficial in resolving problems encountered.
2. The identification of areas of undergraduate preparation that the teacher perceived as being most beneficial for the teaching of social studies.
3. The identification of the types and characteristics of social studies programs being utilized in selected Texas elementary schools.
