Abstract
The purposes of this study were (a) to determine the nitrogen balance of a selected group of normal preschool children who were on a fairly consistent diet; (b) to compare the nitrogen balance of these normal preschool children with similar groups from other studies; (c) to compare the nutrient content of a diet fox a period of ad libitum selection of food with one during a period of controlled selection of food; (d) to compare the average daily intake of nutrients with the Recommended Dietary Allowances;(e) to compare the average daily intake of nutrients from food groups to see which group furnished the most significant supply of nutrients; and (f) to compare the growth of these normal preschool children with a comparable group of a similar study.
