Abstract

T H E O R Y S T A T E M E NT Disney has traditionally represented animated fun in the entertainment business. Increasingly, it has also become evident that entertainment has established Disney as a very powerful corporate empire. Juxtaposition of these two contrary aspects of the Disney image creates a tension which may be best expressed architectually through the postmodern techniques of humorous parody and classical allusion. C O N T E X T S T A T E M E N T The eight acre site for this facility is south of Lake Buena Vista Drive on Walt Disney World property in central Florida. Its context is unique in that it is a carefully landscaped entertainment district designed to portray a fantasy image within its natural environment. F A C I L I T Y Financial center for Walt Disney Corporation. Y S C O P E o f P R O J E C T Corporate operations for Disney's financial services including employee banking, financial development, accounting, legal, investment, and related advisory personnel will be housed in the facility.
