Abstract

A through F Accountability is a phenomenon in educational accountability that dates to 1999. Proponents of A through F Accountability tout its accessibility to stakeholders and its ability to inform decisions for stakeholders. Critics of A through F accountability argue that it is too reductionist and does not paint the entire picture of a school or district. To contribute to this ongoing discussion, this case study will explore the ways in which the data from the A through F accountability system in Texas contributes to the decision-making of educational leaders in a rural Texas school district through interviews, observations, and exploration of district archives
